Crestar’s Laraine emerges top in Masterpiece International Ballet Competition (MIBC) 2021
September 16, 2021
Crestar Dance student Laraine Leow emerged as the top scorer in the online Masterpiece International Ballet Competition (MIBC) 2021, Ballet Solo, Junior A category, held in August 2021. The competition aims to give recognition to talented young dancers between the age of 7 and 19, providing opportunities for future development to promising students.
This is an outstanding follow-up to her third placing in the Junior 2 Ballet category of the International Grand Prix Ballet Singapore (IBGPS) Competition in 2020, which was also presented online.
Dedication & Resilience make a Difference
Winning in these two competitions has been an encouragement to Laraine, who began her dance journey with Crestar School of Dance when she was barely three years old. At seven, Laraine qualified for Crestar’s School’s Elite Programme.
For Laraine, the most memorable event was when she visited Hong Kong and participated in a group item by the Hong Kong Challenge Cup 2019 and won silver. “It was very enjoyable, and the people around me definitely made it even more memorable,” she said.
Laraine says her dance teachers have inspired her to have a stronger mind set. When asked what qualities she has acquired from her dance journey with Crestar, she said, “I am more resilient now as I have learned that nothing comes easy. We must always work hard for what we want.”
She added that she has grown stronger as a person as she has “learned to accept opinions from others and benefitted from them”. Laraine intends to continue participating in dance competitions that encourage her growth and progress.
Congratulations on your wins Laraine, we’re behind you!
