34 Crestar Dance Alumni Celebrated International Dance Day Virtually During Circuit Breaker

May 15, 2020

While enrichment schools are temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it did not dampen the spirits of our Dance Principal, Ms Shyamala, to bring her former students together for a Virtual Ballet Class. The purpose? To commemorate International Dance Day 2020.

Ms Shyamala has kept in contact with her students from as far back as 1998. When she knew that International Dance Day was coming up, she planned to celebrate it with her students, the ones who gave her the opportunity to experience the true gift of dance – to inspire.

It wasn’t long before her message spread to other Crestar Dance alumni who were learning under her. On 30th April 2020, the official day of International Dance Day, the turnout in Ms Shyamala’s Virtual Class was more than she had expected – thirty-four students! They were beyond happy to see their friends, but more importantly, the opportunity to dance again, and with their ballet teacher.

It may be a short and simple session of barre exercises done at home, but it was the get-together and exchange of hearty conversations between a teacher and her students that made that day such a special one.
